On the heels of Shachi Mehra’s television debut on Tuesday Sept. 10, Rachel Klemek has announced that she will compete on Food Network’s ‘Chopped’ show on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Klemek, an accomplished pastry chef who graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, and has worked at Melisse in Los Angeles, is the chef-owner of bakeries in Santa Ana, Costa Mesa and San Diego. She’ll appear on Season 43’s Episode 11 titled, “Sweets Showdown: Cake!”

The program keeps contestants on their toes by chopping one competitor per round when the loser’s plate is revealed. They compete in appetizer, entree and dessert rounds and are given instructions and special challenging ingredients which arrive in gray containers called “baskets.”

An edible art object will arrive in the first basket. A soup and a leafy green will appear in the second basket. The four contestants vie for a win which will make them eligible to compete for a $50,000 prize in a finale show.

The episode will be hosted by Ted Allen. The judges are Alex Guarnaschelli, Chris Santos and Sylvia Weinstock.
